Postby Leondegrande on Mon Feb 22, 2010 7:48 am

Hi.

Worth to be announced seperately :)

http://newlinedesigns.co.uk/

Newline updated their shop software, now looking very good and with a promise of more pictures :)
And very kind offer to celebrate the new homepage!

Very well done, Sean.

Agreed - if you buy unit packs that makes a chariot £3.60! - Hittite, Egyptian, Isrealite, Trojan and same price for Sumerian with their 4 donkeys - bargain!, and foot are only 60p!

Also P&P is capped at £5/UK. £10/EU and £15/everywhere else

The quality of the range is improving all the time and when you combine that with the prices it makes Newline is a very promising company to watch.

A special note to the biblical range which perhaps is not as good as Foundry in terms of sculpts just yet,but it is without doubt far better priced and gives an excellent alternative. When I say the sculpts are not as good as Foundry,I'm not saying they are not good, because that would be incorrect in fact I would say they are quite good and second only to Foundry at the moment. It's nice to now have two companies producing quality biblical wargames miniatures and not just one. :D

Also, the site looks much better and is also far easier to navigate. :)

Can somebody say something about the Dark Ages ranges from Newline or have pictures available?
Goths, Franks, Huns, Normans, Late Romans, Saxons.

Because of the discount some additional unit deals could be ordered......

Help needed :)

Hi, Olaf:

The last time I was over for Salute, Sean had just released the Franks, and the Saxons, I think. I had pre-ordered the Franks; I found them to be a little stiff compared to Foundry's. I looked briefly at the Saxons on the stand and thought they were similarly stiff. I have a lot of the former Newline ancients and like them a lot. These weren't quite as nice, I think. As a result, I've never painted up the Franks...

Thanks Allen.

Jep, I probably buy former Newline ranges (Han&Seleucid) instead of the dark ages stuff.
Only some more hittite chariots and......sumerians?!
I pretty much like the gilgamesh epic.
Have to think about it, offer lasts until 31.03.

I just got a small sample of their Egyptian figures before I ordered an army.
The chariots are bigger than foundry and not as crisp and clean, they are listed as [ 1 chariot and crew ] but you have to buy the crew seperatly.
The foot figures are ok .
Nice but I think I will wait till foundry do one of their 20% off deals and but a chariot unit or two [bought this way works out at 30% off].

You dont have to buy the crew seperately, Keith!

Unit Deal - 4 Chariots crew included - did that many times :)

Agreed - £14.40 for 4 chariots including 2 crew each at present with nice 20% discount - opposed to Foundry approx £9 each after 30% discount...I know where I am spending my money and its not nottingham!

Not got any Newline Egyptians - but I am very happy with their Sumerians I purchased (not as crisp as some of the foundry I have, but there again I just purchased (my last - due to ridiculous price) foundry to complete an egyptian cavalry unit and they are not exactly brilliant sculpts IMHO..

I will be getting Hittites next from Newline, along with their new biblical range - Assyrians.

Hello all.....
Our group would like to get into Chariot wars.
Does anyone out there know anything, good or bad, regarding these newline WAB army deals:

Thanks for your input-seems like an easy way to get a basic force for our first few games.

Jep, I bought my Hittites and a friend the Egyptians (another one the Israelites).
Better way round until 31.03. is to buy the unit deals (dozens of them :) ).

Because of the ongoing special offer I think about a Libyan, Seapeoples or (and ?!?) Sumerian Army ;)
The armies easily can "pimped" by some Foundry models.

For Chariot Wars newbies that offer is the chance to enter the period very cheap.
But be careful, we pump our armies to 3-4000 points already :)

And notice the postage fixed price, 20% otherwise ;)

Cheers
Olaf, who is still calculating how many unit deals he can/must have :)

Agree with Olaf - 20% off and postage is fixed at % of order - or realistically if you are buying an army £5/UK, £10/EU and £15/RoW... so get buying those unit deals, and simply top up with the odd normal pack.
Your starting position for most biblical armies with light chariots should be 4 or 5 unit packs of chariots (ie 16 to 20!) :) - this will give you a solid base to work from, then top of with units of 24 inf which are a decent enough size... buy unit packs (24 figs) of chariot runners and split into units of 3 units of 8 or 2 units of 12.... (of course many will say the ideal size of chariot runners/skirmishers is 9 or 13 to reduce the effects of panic tests from shootring (25% of 9 = 4 and for 13 or 5, whereas for 8 = 2 - so fairly big difference for only a few points)

I reckon between 12 and 15 packs is a rather nice 2000 point biblical army...

New website looks good. They could still do with filling out the 'catalogue' with pics- Always helps with sales IMHO.
