Assyrian hvy archer/slinger formation

Having not gotten my Assyrian army ready yet and never using an Assyrian army in a game I was just wondering if anyone had had any experiance using the heavy archer/slinger formation? Seems at 9 pts per archer and 8 per slinger they are pretty expensive points wise but the rear rank slingers being able to void an enemys shield defense, especially if they have a large shield, could be a big plus and I suppose they still get the double shot for close range. Could be a very potent unit. And about size-I wonder what would be a good size for the unit? Is 16 figures good or 20 too many? It would really be cool to get some feedback from some Biblical Assyrian leaders .

16-20 is perfect for the slingers - a must in an Assyrian list imo
