Mycenaean List

Postby armchairviking » Sun Nov 06, 2011 8:00 pm

Apologies if I am being a bit dim here but with reference to at the Mycenaean list my planned army is:-

4 x Units of infantry
3 x Units of Skirmishers
2 x Units of Chariots

25% of the units in the army can be chariots so that works.

75% of the units in the army must be infantry other than skirmishers so to comply I should have another 11 Units of infantry? If the "other than skirmishers" bit was taken out it would make sense to me. Is this an error? I would have said the above army is reasonably proportionate.

It says in the introduction p.4 'the lists contain army composition guidelines that define the proportions of different troops available to a typical force.' I wouldn't worry about it, just use what units you have for a game. What you've listed would be two divisions as there has to four units to a division. It also says skirmishers per division 50% of infantry p.16.

Thanks. I was aware of the above. I am not worried about gaming with what I have. I am just not clear how to interpret "75% of the units in the army must be infantry other than skirmishers". There is no point in having lists if you just going to ignore them.

The thing with HC is it's designed for big multi-division games so with smaller armies of two divisions it's hard to meet those percentages. If you have four division with four units of MI in each it's not so hard...a lot of the other biblical lists have the same 75% infantry other than skirmishers.

That's a good point. I better get painting!
