Figure Ban at Warhammer World

Postby paul19 » Mon Feb 28, 2011 3:50 pm

Some of you may be aware that GW have imposed a blanket ban on non-GW figures at Warhammer World. This apparently includes non-GW figures used with GW Historical rule sets and will affect our Historical Players at 1st Company Veterans gaming club on a Thursday night.

The Committee of the 1st Company Veterans is challenging this ban as being unreasonable, afterall we are supposed to be a private members club and being dictated to in this way is not acceptable. Club representatives have a meeting scheduled for 5.30pm on Thursday 3rd of March, any Club member is welcome to attend, we are hoping that GW see sense and back off. If they don't the Club Committee will call an EGM of the club so that our members can decide how they wish to proceed, as we have no intention of either implementing or enforcing this ban. We would ask that our members sit tight and continue to play their prefered games (as long as it is with a GW ruleset), the club can ill afford to lose such valued and stalwart members as are Historical guys and will not give up without a fight.

Judging from the emails and forum posts that we have been receiving the rest of the club are right behind the historical gamers, they see this as an unwarranted attack on the club as a whole, against which we need to make a stand.

Regards
Paul on behalf of the 1st Company Veterans

Paul,

I wish you good luck with changing their mind, but their venue, their rules ...

TBH if my product was 4x the price of other models, I'd ban the other models too

Does GW even produce historical figures?

No they don't. Charming isn't it?

I think the decision makers in GW have had some kind of collective mental breakdown over the last couple of years. This proves it. As GW dont produce historical miniatures, they effectively ban the use of WAB and WECW at a stroke. Geniuses.

Mental breakdown... what an understatement!

It strikes me as if they are cutting off their manhood to spite themselves.

Why do you think that the WAB GT and Historical events are no longer at GW?

To bad, makes it look as though they are not supporting the hobby (you know, the reason the company started...for what they loved) but supporting the bottom line.

That is the very reason I have doubts about the future of Warhammer Historical as a whole concern.

All GW appear to be wanting to do is to screw the parents (like me) with over priced figures and glues that won't! Unless its fantasy of 40K , nothing else matters in their eyes.

There is a number of ways in which to deal with this crap from GW.

1. Ban 40k and fantasy battles from your club.
2. Picket GW directly, or their shops.
3. Dont buy anymore GW products.
4. Start a new religion saying your wargames figures are part of your belief system, and watch them try to ban you whilst they break the law, by stopping you.
5.Take Hostages.

Yes I know the last 2 are extreme case, but this is war gentlemen, have no doubt about that, I hate GW with a vengence. how long is it before they tell the GCN to do the same to the clubs that have joined that body, knowing my ex club SELWG is about to vote on joining this so called non affiliated to GW body goup.

Time to act gentlemen, get out there and do something, knowing I will be right behind you, albeit 5000 miles behind you.

I have actually written an email to them... I am curious to see what the response is.

If you really wanted to get GW post anonymous blogs to fundamentalist websites about the GW making a Mohammad the prophet Warhammer figure. That would create a ruckus.
