Yes I heard something along those lines which is why my units will be in 32's.

Still one eyed and will be for the next 2-3 weeks. Tried to do some painting the other day but gave up after the first attempt.

I will bring some of the newline figures to Swindon next Sunday so you can have a look at them.

how's the eye going on?

Axes from Amazon!

at the moment yes units of forty, however after talking to Martin G over last weekend, about wab2 I'm considering four ranks of eight? thats 32 man units?

I'm sure it will change again

I would have though units of 36 (12x3) would be the order of the day.

There looking very nice and inspirational! 8) 8)

Thanks for the 32 man suggestion with 8 wide as that is probably a clue that things might flow that way as to file and depth I'll probably do that with my Trojan Spearmen.I also like the length of your spears and I will go that route as well, although mine will be a bit shorter as every man carries a shield and to long would look like their wrists would snap.:)

@Tommy and argh

OK gentlemen, what's the deal then? :? If you don't wish to air it out, please send me a PM as I'd rather not have to restructure my units. :)

Those chariots are awsome. I would love to see even more photos of the army. I can believe you put reins on the mules. Must have taken ages and looks highly effective. Miniature Designs have some spearmen out soon.

Mention of who makes the battle cars reminded me that eons ago I bought a single QT model (28mm) - still unassembled! I understand that the range is still available from Amazon Miniatures - http://www.amazonminiatures.com/catalog ... e=Sumerian

There is also a Sumerian range available from Eureka in Australia - from what was said about them in Slingshot last year they are o the small 28mm side.

Good looking army - one that I was thinking about as my very late entry into 15mm (cannot justify yet another lot of 28mm).

I wont be doing the bases till i've finished the whole army!
I always do it that way, besides I cannot decide which way to go yet, all desert or plenty of green? The army has been painted with deliberate muted tones, maybe some green grass might lift it?

I've got to work up the courage to put more reins on the other chariots

I'm working on the royal guard now, so in a couple of weeks I'll post a better picture of what I've done so far.

Cheers guys

Sorry - forgot to mention Castaway Arts - they also produce a useful 28mm Sumerian range downunder.

Look forward to the next shot.

These Sumerians just look better and better. This really brings it home for me just how useful miniatures are for helping to understand ancient armies. Now when I think of a Sumerian army I have a much better mental image than I had before.

Great work Argh.

Ahh,I see now.I didn't know your method of basing armies.I assumed it was upon completion of each unit and your were simply behind.

If it's any help I plan on doing my Trojans with a more arid base in that it will be mostly desert with some sparse grass and a bush or two.

Anyways,I'm really enjoying your thread and your very nicely painted miniatures. 8) Your mini's and some biblical gaming in my region had a large influence on drawing me into this period.I'm looking forward to seeing your army in all it's glory on completion. :D

nearly time for doing the bases, NEARLY!

King and subjects are Bears Den
Parasol is an Assyrian shield
Standards are conversions, using stuff from Crocodile Games USA
as are the mighty weapons.
Some weapons are also from Amazon.
Muso is an Assyrian.

Quite a mix
group shot is only a week or so away.

Cheers

For anyone topping up their Sumerians or starting 2 companies will be bringing out ranges very soon. Not allowed to say much more but should be rather good. That king must be a conversion?
