Mine eyes have seen the glory... (dipped greymen 26/10)

I painted these and I know they're not WAB but they are historical, so here you go.

And a close-up of one of them

V. simple paint job (basecoat and wash, no highlights), but then if I ever want to have enough of them to play a game before I'm 90 it needs to be.

A quick highlight on the hands/face only?
A scrimmage in a Border Station-
A canter down some dark defile
Two thousand pounds of education
Drops to a ten-rupee jezail.
The Crammer's boast, the Squadron's pride,
Shot like a rabbit in a ride!

No. If I ever paint Grant or Lee they might get the special reatment, but I'm happy with how these'll look en masse.

Skrmish using LotoW, then eventually Blasthoff Bridge, followed by the scenarios from Wargames Companion before finally (around my 90th birthday) a small game of BlackPowder (for which I'll need sabot movement tray thingies).
More realistically I'll finish another five of the blue men, and the ten grey men I've started and then become distracted by something else.

Are these reinforcements for the Almoravids, Tom? (Might be able to beat those pesky Spanish knights with muskets....) :D

Great idea James!
Lets see, 4's to hit, charging will need fives. Hold on
*rolls dice*
So that's no hits then.
Lances,Warhorses,Ferocious Charge.
*Shovels dead Blue Men back into case*

Hmmm.
*Goes off to buy Gatling Gun*

I'm embarking on the Civil War in 28mm using Regimental Fire and Fury which needs quite a few miniatures, however I'll also be playing Guns at Gettysburg which is written with 28mm in mind and less miniatures required. Also, if your looking for some Civil War skirmish games then I recommend Two Fat Lardies rule sets.

What did you use for your wash?

And a few more blue un's:

Damn sword makes focussing difficult!

The washes are all Citadel ones. On the Union types it's Asurmen Blue on the uniform and then Badab Black on the metals, Devlan Mud on the browns and Ogryn Flesh on the, erm, flesh. The Confederates got mostly covered in Devlan Mud with flesh and metals as above

I tried out LotOW with the kids and we had a fun game. There's a report (with pictures) on the blog

Pretty please highlight the flesh if nothing more. A dab on the forehead, nose chin and each cheek-bone

I'm sure that negroes did fight on both sides of the ACW (sic) but ... :D

Otherwise good work that man
