Postby andyjp » Tue May 29, 2012 11:53 pm

I've just managed to confirm the dates with Maelstrom Games, the 2nd and 3rd of March 2013.
Still using WAB2 and AoA2. 3,000 Pts. More info to follow soon. :D

At least there is a bit more time for painting plastic hoplites!

Andy - as it's armies up to 31BC are you going to allow lists from the Chariot Wars pdf.

Surely allowing "Chariot Armies" lists would totally unbalance the competition.

Wouldn't it be best to limit the period between 539BC to 31BC?

If the point allocation is correct then the armies shouldn't be unbalanced. The aim of A0A was not only to provide more lists but also to provide them in a format where the same points values are used across all lists, allowing "out of period" games on an equal footing.

I think the biblical and classical periods are close enough to use together and might encourage a higher turnout.

There are plenty of armies that can have chariots in the classical period.

Cheers Wayne.

I think it's a good idea to pit chariot armies against the young upstart Greeks!

It will be interesting to see how Egyptians (for example) deal with a wall of Phalanx.
Almost enough to get me out of retirement

Of course Sumerians against Burgundians would NOT work!
But on the whole I'm comfortable with Biblical/Classical mix.

At the last 'Biblical' GT I ran, we got 30 players, which was down on the previous years 50, so it is a rather obscure area of ancient gaming.

It's the route I would take if I was organising a CoE event.
Good luck
you know it makes sense

Hi Guys,

I just thought that I'd mention that Maelstrom's official Events diary for 2013 still has this as being held on the 16/17th February 2013 so perhaps a call to let them know that it is March?.

Cheers

Was with Andy today when we popped into maelstrom games, and they should have changed the dates by now.

Hey Andy,

Just paid my entry fee, and everything seemed to work ok on the wabgt website.

Nice to see all the rules and errata details listed in one place.

Looking forward to this very much.
