WAB Supplements- what do you fancy first

Postby Robb on Thu Apr 24, 2008 3:59 pm

Your chance to pick some titles, some are being written, some will be commissioned, some might not happen at all. Just gauging interest on what YOU want first.

The poll only allows 10 choices so I picked a mix.

I probably managed to miss something important on the list so rather than explain your choices, just post other selections below, and once we get enough we can do a new poll for those.

If the poll set up properly, you can pick three. If it didn't- sorry!

My vote is for The HYW but then I would wouldn't I?

Also, very, very interested in Crusades and Master of the Steppes.

Cheers,

Darrell.

WotR would definately be up there too. Why not add them to the poll if possible?

Cheers,

Darrell.

I would like to see an alternative Eastern warfare book as well, centred on the Parthians and Sassanids.

I would also like to see a revised Chariot Wars and a Zulu Wars supplement.

Probably this should be another thread but I would also like to see the War of Spanish Succession and the Grand Alliance.

The best books, I feel, are ones set around a part of history with a real driving "storyline" behind it.

Would it be possible to shoehorn the Conquista of the Americas (Spanish, Aztecs, Incas etc) into the WAB system? That'd be a real winner in my eyes: something a bit different with the whole different continent - you could have your Flower Wars and such, and then you've got the storyline of the arrival of the spanish to really give the book a backdrop.

Lets please keep focussed on WAB supplements please

Warhammer Historical does do other games other than Warhammer Ancient Battles, but this topic is about WABs future.

East Engle, please give an example of the supplement you like- thanks!

Divine Wind, it opens a new look&feel to WAB which is very popular and there are lots of very nice miniatures out there. Other than the very fine Art of War supplement it may hook some beginners :)

A medieval 900-1250 western/central europe supplement will be very welcomed too (there still is a gap.... )

Hi

Crusades gets my first choice, great period with some fantastic figures available from Perry's & GB.

A close 2nd is Imperial Rome and enemies aRome dominated the ancient world for several centuries and with the wide variety of opponents should be in my opinion high on the agenda .

Only three :D

Well I think Greeks first, followed cloesly by HYW and then The Steppes and a close 4th, crusades.

I do like East Engles idea for Meso American but it a favourite period of mine...so I would

Thanks for the chance to vote in a poll, it's nice to be asked, instead of told. The choices listed covered what I can think of now.

umm all of them ;-)

seriously: Ceaser would at least in part tie in with sucessors so would need to be written eith that in mind (a lot of cross over)

Legion: interesting as there are not that many significant enemies (Germans, Dacians and easterns, plus other Legions) that did not cross over into other supplements.

greeks and persians overdue.

Trojan war raises the idea (which i have thought would be good for a while now) of Chariot wars redux, being based on the main periods of conflict (trojan war, quadesh, rise and fall of assyria) to expand on the work already done.

of course all well written WAB supplements will be appreciated.

From the list of 10;

1. HYW
2. Mongols
3. Crusades

As far as alternatives/additions to the list, I would be very interested in a 'Northern Crusades' supplement too. this could obviously be expanded to encompass the mid to late medieval north/eastern europe generally (maybe a cross over with the Mongols supplement), or more targeted to keep to Teutonics and Moskovy.

Another, maybe too limited but interesting, would be one on Medieval Italy, not sure if there would be enough for a supplement, but the Guelphs and the Ghibelines plus all the goings on in Sicily right up to the Italian Wars in the 1490's might be worth a look.

I voted Legion, Crusades and Early Greek/Macedonian. I'd also rate HyW high. And how about something covering the ancient Cambodian kingdoms and neighbours.

(Also, could ECW be "stretched" to do the British in India?)
