Axes and Axis 2011 WAB results

Postby Loxodontus Epirotus » Sun Aug 21, 2011 12:54 am

Ok here is the brief round up of who won what etc for the Axes and Axis WAB side. No doubt Stephen will do a seperate FoW one for FoWers to look at.

Champion: Paul Scrivens-Smith -76pts
Second place: Dave Sculley - 59pts
Third Place: Warren Stevens - 56pts

Blood Goblet winner: Justin Taylor (by one VP)

Best Painted Army: Paul Griffin - 45 vote points
2nd best voted: Paul Scrivens-Smith - 37 vote points

Best sports award: James Leigh (bring it back in for signing!!)

"Chopped to Bits" award - Dave Johnson

Again thank you for the generosity of Justin Taylor of Veni Vidi Vici who sponsored the event with wonderful prizes.

Also a massive thank you to all of you who came, saw and conquered... wouldn't be much of event without you - so kudos to you all! :-*

I would also like to thank Paul Scrivens -Smith who in light of winning the tournament and having the most Vps, assured in the most sporting manner that another competitor walked away with an award - a gentleman :)

On a personal note now that my head has cleared - a massive thanks for three very intriguing and hard fought games. The first from Paul Griffin with his wonderfully painted Persians, secondly James Leigh with his toughed out Imperial Romans and a very "could go either way" civil war game from Dave Pearson with his Macedonians. All great games!

Hope to see everyone next year and even some more new faces!! We want this to be even bigger so spread the word around folks! ;D

For those who wish a fuller picture of the results you can download over at Phoenix gaming Club (but you will have to sign in to do so unfortunately- registration just takes a few seconds). http://phoenixgamingrushden.proboards.c ... hread=1602
Alternatively email me on warren.stephens@btinternet.com and I can attach either an xls or word.doc to a reply.

It was a well deserved win Scrivs! I hope you like the first prize trophy! As it will be Dark Ages next year we will have to scratch our heads a bit as I don't think a Roman Legionnaire's helmet would be appropriate.

Just would also like to thank my gaming opponents Paul Griffin (excellently painted Persians and well worth the Best Painted Army Award) for the Ambush Scenario, James Leigh (really tough Impy Romans) during the weather battle line, and Dave Pearson (with those minifigs Macedonians)for the defile scenario. All gave me a lot to think about during the games and hey I got third place! :D

Oh looks as if I said all that before - silly me!
