Well all places are booked.
Took almost 48 hours this time, must have something to do with the weather.

Same thing happened to me for Hot Lead Andy.
Get your name down on the reserve list. Folk always drop out.
Worked for me for Hot Lead.

Just back from a very enjoyable and not too chilly "Cold Steel" event at Gripping Beast HQ, Evesham. Many thanks as always to Darren and Andy for hosting. Martin for organising and Mrs Miggins for the finger buffet.

Four intersting games played in the right spirit against like minded opponents.

Congratulations to top banana Ed for proving that Age of Arthur armies can rock with the best of them.

Cheers Wayne.

I've updated the blog with my report of the proceedings: http://scrivsland.blogspot.com/2012/01/ ... steel.html

I'll add photos at a later date due to flat camera batteries.

Was a good day out for me, despite my 2nd-to-last placing (and having the pride of the Rus machine-gunned by smelly Arabs in the last scenario - my deployment left a lot to be desired...)

Was good to catch up with some old faces (Darren and Mark, the other Cheltenham lads :) ), and meet some new ones. I'll have to try out a more cavalry-based force next time. And learn how to deploy properly. And not rely on skirmishing horse archers to win games. And make armour saves.

Tom,

Your Arabs from last year were well and truly avenged in my last games this time around - I was shot off the board by Nick Stocks' humungous combined arms Almoravid units!

I suspect that rather proves that it's not about how good the list is, but about how good the player is.

Quite right. So from being the self confessed worst player in the world; to top place, using my slow crawl up the table should take me passed my natural lifespan. But I do not care, its playing the right people that counts.

All the best to all at cold steel. See you at hot lead if I can get on the net in time.

Tom you owe me a grudge match  and I expect you will still beat me :D
