Additional Lists

Postby MartinG » Tue May 08, 2012 12:14 pm

NNow that the chariot lists and the errata for AoA have both gone to Forgeworld, :D I am turning my attention to the armies that did not make it into the book or the chariot .pdf. Now this is a longer term project, so don't get too excited, but I hope to develop additional armies and post tehm here first for discussion before they go on to form another .pdf. Those that have come to mind so far are listed below-in no particular order; please let me know of others you would like to see.
Burmese
Khmer
Later Armenian
Medieval Scandinavia
Georgian
Catalan Company
Franks in Greece
Free Company
Early Burgundian
Safavid Persian
End of Byzantium
Spanish in Italy (1490s)
French in Italy (1490s)
Tudor English
Moghul Conquest
Inca
Aztec
Maya
Mound Dwellers
Hiberno-Norse
Later Japanese
Vietnamese
Conquistadores
Ming Chinese
Ligurian
Lusitanian
Thessalian
Greek Mercenaries
Skraelings
The Shadow of the Beast
As seen on TMP: "Who the Heck is Martin Gibbins?"

Sounds promising.

I will search through all that generic lists I've done and name the most interesting ones, not already in the AoA, Chariot.pdf or above.

Hopefully the rulesbook Errata&QAs are published by Forgeworld too, in the most recent version :)

Scythian, Hun and 16th century Korean (assuming the Later Japanese list covers the Korean invasions).

As an aside, are the Chariot Wars lists balanced against AoA2 or just against each other?

If you are going to do dedicated Italian Wars era lists for the French and Spanish, then perhaps updated/more specific Italian City states lists for the same period?

If you publish the point calculation for AoA, Martin. That would be great and helpful.

Here a list of interesting (for me at least :) ) lists:
Mountain Indian (500-170BC)
Samnite (355-272BC)
Sarmatian (310BC-375AD)
Jewish Revolt (66-70 and 132-135AD)
Saxon, Frisian, Bavarian, Thuringian (250-804AD)
Sub-Roman British (407-945AD)
Emishi (500-1100AD)
Italian Lombard (720-1076AD)
Nan-Chao (728-1253AD)
Khurasanian (821-1003AD)
Khitan-Liao (907-1125AD)
Koryo Dynasty Korean (918-1392AD)
Hsi-Hsia (982-1227AD)
West Sudanese (1000-1500AD)
Tuareg (1000-1500AD)
Sicilian (1072-1442AD)
Syrian (1092-1286AD)
Lithuanian (1132-1435AD)
Ayyubid Egyptian (1171-1250AD)
Siamese (1238-1500AD)
Yuan Chinese (1260-1368AD)
Order of St John (1291-1500AD)
Yi Dynasty Koreans (1392-1500AD)

Some may be covered already, but that are the ones I think could be nice to have.

Cheers

Great to see more lists on the way. As a newcomer to WAB (WFB refugee) the main problem I see in making the game more accessible is the complexity of the army lists. AOA2 is a great book however it is difficult to find in period games. I'd like to see a return to the supplements so that games are more characterful and not about which is the "hardest" list (which is effectively what WFB has become).

Question for Martin - is that the line you are going down, period based supplements that support characterful game play. It appears that Forgeworld are not going to reprint the older supplements which I think is a shame personally and I'm hoping that we can keep that element of the game going through the forum and attract new players away from power gaming

That is up to the forthcoming supplements (new style, 200 pages, hardcover) like HYW, me think/hope/guess.

'Dark Age' Scottish - there is a gap between the Pictish and Medieval Scots list.

I would like to see lists for the Welsh - 800AD - 1409AD. from the viking raids, through to the Norman Invasion and right the way up to Owain Glyn Dŵr's brief liberation of Wales and the fall of Harlech Castle

May I know what armies are in the Chariot Wars lsit already?

Personally I felt that it is a pity that Scythians and Sarmatians are not in AoA.

I withdraw my request for a Hun list. I've just noticed it amongst the Steppe Nomads lists....ahem

I'd second the call for medieval Welsh lists! No idea when I'd find time to start the project - let alone finish it - but I'd love to be able to field the army of Owain Glyn Dwr.

Is there any update(s) on when some (or all) of the additional lists will be out? :D
