This is a great list, and I would like to add wargames foundry ( http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/OW/white.asp )
if you would like to add it to your list. It would be good to keep this as reference as it's very helpful for someone new, like me.

Based on the Doc Holliday thread, it looks as if Reaper ought to be added to the list ...

Just a note to potential buyers, some sites vary in scale. Here are the three I have purchased from thus far...

28mm True-scale sites:

Dixon
Foundry

28mm Heroic Scale (approx 32mm) sites:

Black Scorpion

foureyedtroll, I believe that the Dixon range is 25mm. I have just bought a Dixon stage coach, covered prairie wagon and buckboard. They look fantastic. I love the Dixon horse and mules. When I have finished them, I will post some pics.

So they are, 25mm large scale, whatever that means. Still either way Black Scorpion minis look a little intimidating to Foundry posses, hehe.

Conquest's French and Indian War figures are the size of Foundry classic Victorian (Old West) and Pirate ranges.

Thanks Allen- so in the realm of True 28, or are you referring to the classic Foundry Pirate range that was rather large- pushing toward a 32mm to the eye?

Well, I would have said both. I consider the original Foundry pirates (not the more recent Highwaymen) to be the same as the other ranges from that Foundry "era". It's all the later pirate (and Old West) ranges by other companies (and Foundry too!) that have been incompatible! If you see a difference between the original Victorian gunfighters et al, and the original pirates, you're seeing a difference that I don't. Sorry!

Allen-
probably my lack of following Pirate models until looking recently- thought the timing of the range went the other way-
So are the Afro-Caribbean renegades newer Foundry pirate range, or more true 28 classic Foundry?
Trying to complete a Maroon gang-

For those of you who game in 15mm some of the companies I would recogmend for both service and minature's
Peter Pig, for both figures and buildings. Peter pig minature are true 15mm and may not match in with other producers, but that does not realy matter as they have all the figures you will need for the first two books (The Old west and Pony Wars.
If you want to do the Alamo I would surgest Minifigs (c/o Cavalier books) they have all the various figures you would need, but the figures are about 17-18mm tall.
A great source of civillian figure for the Old West is Blue Moon minatures in the USA, very nice figures.
Finally for the French and Indian wars there is Essswex 15mm who have a very nice range of figures for this period but expencive, so if you want something cheeper that still is of a high standard then I would recogment Iregular minatures.

Sorry if this sounds a little dumb!

Do any of the above make good Mexican army figures?
(I don't like the OG samples in the Alamo book :x )

Thanks
you know it makes sense
