Having enjoyed our first game of WHECW so much last week, my local group in Southport decided to re-run it from the start and I attach some pics of parts of the ensuing carnage. There are not so many of the enemy (Covenanters) as my opponent is still in the process of painting them. Notwithstanding their raiment, Divine Providence showered down upon the Scots (in a way never seen in Scottish World Cup draws and subsequent campaigns). Aside from rolling some rather good dice to rout my unit of heavy cavalry (Elite Gallopers) and spoiling my one succesful cavalry action by disintegrating my entire other unit of cavalry by grape shot at point blank (my troopers having been chasing a unit of routed Firelocks who failed to rally and the latter, in moving again, unmasked his artilley), Parliament's artillery commander (me) was struck down with a complete inability to estimate artillery ranges correctly - with the result that almost all of my rounds sailed off table and probably rained down on Mrs Miggins Pie Shoppe and Coffee House some miles to the rear casuing a prompt end to business that day and for the forseeable future. I also succeeded in misfiring a Saker in turn 2 with the result being a catastrophic explosion and one of my newly (off ebay) purchased foot units promptly decamped the field without firing a shot(hopefully they are not to become one of those units that nver achieves anything in game after game - I am sure every wargamer has one!), after a Leveller within the ranks convinced them that they all they were doing was replacing one ruling gentry elite with another (and my General, unless he had been riding an ancestor of Red Rum, had no chance of getting to them before they were off the table). All that notwithstanding it was an excellent game - the eagle eyed will notice various of the regiments flying distinctly non ECW banners and I will, over time, get some additional command stands to allow them to be swapped for TYW or ECW as appropriate.

- The starting line of battle - our host undoubtedly inciting the Agitator to sow the seeds of radical dissent in the ranks of the regiment near his left hand

- Parliament's forces mass

- Whitecoat regiment - as ever troops in such colours always seem to fight to the end and they did valiant service later on

- The left flank

- The right flank rear guard

- Closing with the enemy -after this it all went downhill!
