20mm? It's the new Warhammer scale? That's really bad luck as I'm 28mm gamer with a lot of WW2 stuff. So I do not need to buy this book.

WOW!! I can now dig out my Brit Paras

Oh wait - i have rules for DH, RoE and FoW. Erm perhaps not then.

As you were gentlemen
A scrimmage in a Border Station-
A canter down some dark defile
Two thousand pounds of education
Drops to a ten-rupee jezail.
The Crammer's boast, the Squadron's pride,
Shot like a rabbit in a ride!

I am probably one of only a few looking forward to this. I do have an extensive 20mm collection(awaiting some attention) and you can buy well painted tanks in this scale for under £10.00 or kits under £5.00. Compare that to 15mm FOW or 28mm tanks . Therefore you could offset the initial cost of the book with these . Also as we all know Plastic Soldier are producing 20mm boxes of WW2 soldiers cheaply and no doubt this will be good news for them .Therefore apart from the rules book this can be a cheap way of wargaming

Anyone who buys Forgeworld produced books and there are quite a few of those, know that the price tag is around the £50.00 mark. Therefore the price doesn't shock me.However I can't honestly say that the book is worth its money until I have examined the contents and will reserve my judgment until then.

With so many options for rules for gaming WWII already (I must own at least 4, and that doesn't include FoW!) I just don't see how this makes any sense for either FW or GW......oh, yes it is FW/GW so why would logic need to apply!

I'm sure it will follow the tried and tested approach of release book, promise more and then leave to rot as the next project nears completion.

Fine but I'm a 28mm gamer so all my terrain and scenics are 28mm ones. So it is not only the minis + tanks thing. That is the reason why I decided to play historical games in 28mm rather than 15mm or 20mm.

Well as a Journalist, I'm going to 'wait and see'. If WS&S are provided with a review copy, then you'll have a comprehensive and clear write up in issue 55.

Price? Definitely a factor. Layout quality loooks good... people will want to know if they can use what models they have and also what makes Kamphgruppe Normandy different from the rest of the games out there... My first thought was - Normandy? That's a bit limited...

Hang on....Hang on, I have just realized , as Nottingham is using the old Julian calendar, and the rest of the UK is using the Gregorian, it makes today, April the first, its an April fools day joke guys, as by judging from the reaction of the WAB2 community, this is as much welcome, as the pox in a whore house

I think it amusing that FW are now adopting the Battlefront model
A scrimmage in a Border Station-
A canter down some dark defile
Two thousand pounds of education
Drops to a ten-rupee jezail.
The Crammer's boast, the Squadron's pride,
Shot like a rabbit in a ride!

Don't get me wrong Guy, I like the game!

The author playtested it at one of our historical weekends (ages ago)
looks great, the scale is good (read 'cheap') for WWII

It's what's going on in the background that bothers me, NO WAB SUPPORT
I've wasted to much energy on this already
you know it makes sense

That's my thoughts exactly.

And as others have said, I also wonder who will pay that kind of money for a new game when GW/FW have such an atrocious reputation in supporting their other games like WAB and Great War.

As far as the scale -- can't you just use whatever scale figures you want? I don't play any games past the 19th century period, but most of those seem easily adapted.

Judging by WAB I'll take a long term view on that...

From a wider perspective, absolutely. That could have been AOA or a number of other things... I'll begin sounding like Allen if I'm not too careful! :-)

It would be fascinating to go to Salute this weekend; I'm sorry to miss it. I'd pull up a pew within earshot of the Forge World stand and watch the parade of usual suspects. Interspersed with the shady characters trying to cadge a "review" copy will be plenty of WAB players slinking up to lay down their 48 quid for this opus and then sneaking away--without ever emitting a grumble about what's been done to WAB.

Oh, don't deny it: you know you will.

I must say the blatant errors in the OB and the almost unbelievable price make this a no-purchase for me, but I'm still curious:

They say "all new system" - do we know what rules it's derived from? (I don't actually believe it's "all new", that doesn't match their M.O.)

Guy had noted some similarities here:

(Mind, he's being more cautious now, as he wants a free copy!)

Do I need/want a set of ww2 rules -no
If i did would I fork out £48 -no
If I was prepared to fork out £48 would I give it to fw/gw no

with three no's i'm afraid its out and so are any future purchases that are in this price bracket - one can only imagine what supplements will be priced at ,when afterall forgeworld look at wab players a captive audience.

I'm hyped.

The price... well... thinking about how much I've spent on FOW books...
Let's see, I've used Stars & Stripes for Mid War period and then had to buy Africa 2.0
The same for D-1 and Hell's Highway and now the Turning Tide book if I want to play Late War according to most recent (and legal) rules.
(the S&S, Africa and HH are hypotetical since I don't own them... but I bought D-1 and now had to buy TT for some lousy 10 pages of rules!! Just to get you the idea of how much a FOW player spent in books for the sake of "support"! )

So, looking into account, 48 pounds is quite a bargain, ain't it?!
