Thoughts on upgrading to Medium or Large ships in a campaign

Postby Boudica » Sun Dec 05, 2010 10:07 am

Hello all,

I was reading over the campaign rules in LOTHS, and there seems to be a fairly major omission - the rules are clear that pirate crews start with a small ship - but I saw no rules at all on how to upgrade to a medium or large ship in the game. Options for expansion include everything from additional skills for crew members to extra cannons (assuming you have the doubloons and make the rarity roll), and hull points may be repaired but the original number may not be exceeded.... but there appears to be no way to get anything other than a small 6-8" ship. I know a number of folks in our group have medium and large ships that we'd like to use, provided we earn them over the course of the campaign - but it appears we will need to come up with our own mechanism for earning larger ships. Has anyone else out there figured out a way to do this effectively?

Thanks much!

Presumeably you make one available via the "Steal that Ship" scenario?
